EVENING LECTURE : Presentations by the Barry van Wyk and the Jennings Award recipients

The first Evening Lecture for 2022 was held on Thursday, 24 February, at 16:30.

This was the inaugural lecture where the 2021 Barry van Wyk Award and the Jennings Award recipients will present their work.The lecture was divided in two parts:

  • Part 1: 2021 Barry van Wyk Award Recipient – Ruan Murison will discuss “Using small–strain stiffness to predict the bearing capacity of strip foundations on sand”

  • Part 2: 2021 Jennings Award Recipients – Dr Luis Torres-Cruz and Prof. Carlos Santamarina will present on the topic “Particulars of the particulate: From natural soils to industrial residues”
